Appointments
You do not usually need a referral to see a physiotherapist as a private client.
A referral or approval may be required if your treatment is being funded through Medicare, DVA, ReturnToWorkSA, compulsory third-party insurance or another funding organisation.
Although a referral is not always required, information from your GP, specialist or other healthcare providers can help us understand your medical history and coordinate your care.
You can contact our administration team by telephone, email or through the enquiry form on our website.
Our team will ask you some questions about your condition, goals, preferred clinic and funding arrangements. This helps us identify the most appropriate appointment type and physiotherapist for your needs.
Where relevant, please bring or provide:
- Your referral or funding approval
- Your Medicare, DVA or private health insurance details
- Relevant medical letters and reports
- Results of scans or other investigations
- A current medication list
- Details of the health professionals involved in your care
- Any mobility aid, brace or equipment you regularly use
- Your NDIS plan or relevant plan details, if applicable
You are welcome to send documents to us before your appointment so your physiotherapist can review them.
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and enables the physiotherapist to assess the relevant area safely.
Suitable footwear is recommended if your assessment is likely to include standing, walking, balance activities or exercise.
Yes. You are welcome to bring a family member, support worker, carer or another person to your appointment.
Please let us know if you require assistance with communication, mobility, personal care or decision-making so we can plan your appointment appropriately.
Your physiotherapist will take time to understand your symptoms, medical history, current abilities, concerns and rehabilitation goals.
Your appointment will usually include a detailed assessment relevant to your needs. This may involve assessment of movement, strength, balance, walking, coordination, vision, dizziness, neck function, exercise tolerance or other areas.
Your physiotherapist will explain their findings and work with you to develop an individualised rehabilitation plan. Treatment may include education, advice, exercises, hands-on treatment, movement practice and a home rehabilitation program.
Initial appointments are generally longer so that we have time to understand your concerns and complete a detailed assessment. Depending on the service required, an initial appointment is usually 60 minutes but may be longer if required.
Follow-up appointments are commonly 45 minutes.
Appointment lengths vary according to the service, clinical need and funding arrangements. Our administration team will confirm the length and fee when you book.
The number and frequency of appointments will depend on your condition, goals, assessment findings, response to treatment and funding arrangements.
Your physiotherapist will discuss a recommended rehabilitation plan with you and review it as your needs change. You are not required to commit to a set number of appointments unless this has been discussed and agreed with you.
Where appropriate, your physiotherapist may provide an individualised home rehabilitation program.
The program will be designed around your goals, abilities, available support and home environment. Your physiotherapist will review and progress it with you as needed.
With your consent, we can communicate with your GP, specialist, allied health team, support coordinator, insurer, school, university, workplace or other relevant people.
This can help coordinate your rehabilitation and ensure important information is shared between the people involved in your care.

Yes, we may provide physiotherapy under ReturnToWorkSA, compulsory third-party insurance, Lifetime Support Authority or other approved funding arrangements.

- How services will be invoiced
- The responsibilities of you and ANR
- How the agreement can be changed or ended
We will explain the Service Agreement and answer your questions before asking you to agree to it.
You, your nominee or your plan manager are responsible for monitoring the funding available in your NDIS plan.

Services may be provided at an ANR clinic, in your home or in a relevant community setting. Provider travel and other associated costs may apply in accordance with current NDIS requirements and your Service Agreement.
Our physiotherapists can assess and recommend a range of mobility, positioning, exercise and rehabilitation equipment within their professional scope.
The process will depend on the type and complexity of the equipment, your clinical needs and your NDIS funding. Some equipment may require trials, supporting evidence, quotations or assessment by another health professional.
Current information for participants, families and providers is available from the NDIS website.
Cancellations and Attendance
We require at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, assessment, home visit, exercise class or group rehabilitation session.
We require at least two full business days' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a booking. Weekends and public holidays do not count as business days. Providing adequate notice allows us to offer the booking to another person who may be waiting for care.
If you cancel or reschedule with less than two full business days' notice, or do not attend a scheduled appointment or class, Advanced Neuro Rehab may charge 100% of the scheduled fee.
Cancellation and missed-appointment fees cannot be claimed through Medicare, DVA or private health insurance. Where applicable, you will be personally responsible for paying the fee.
For NDIS participants, a short-notice cancellation fee may be claimed from your NDIS plan only where permitted under current NDIS requirements and agreed to in your Service Agreement.
We understand that emergencies and circumstances outside your control can occur.
Requests to waive a cancellation fee will be considered fairly and individually by Advanced Neuro Rehab. Any decision to waive the fee will be made at ANR's discretion.
If you arrive late, your appointment may still need to finish at the originally scheduled time so that other clients are not delayed. The full scheduled consultation fee will apply.
Please contact us if you are running late so we can advise whether the appointment can proceed safely and effectively.
