Ellen Robotham
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
Ellen graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours). Since graduation, she has worked exclusively in neurological rehabilitation in both Brisbane and Adelaide.
While studying, Ellen obtained a qualification in Pilates instruction and worked as an instructor at multiple private studios. This has given her a comprehensive background in movement analysis, postural retraining and general strength and conditioning that has translated well into her physiotherapy practice today.
Ellen works with patients of all backgrounds and with any neurological condition, but has a special interest in treating dizziness, vertigo, balance issues and stroke rehabilitation.
Clinical interests
Ellen has a particular interest in:
- Dizziness and vertigo
- Vestibular physiotherapy and vestibular rehabilitation
- BPPV
- Neck (cervical) dysfunction and associated symptoms, including cervicogenic headache and dizziness
- Concussion and persistent post-concussion symptoms
- Stroke rehabilitation
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Balance and falls prevention
- Basic equipment prescription
She enjoys assisting clients with complex issues and presentations that require lots of creative thinking and problem-solving skills. She enjoys being able to provide explanations, treatments and practical solutions to clients to enable them to improve their symptoms and quality of life.
Treatment approach
Ellen employs a multifaceted approach to rehabilitation, considering all aspects (not just physical!) that contribute to a client’s symptoms. Rehabilitation will include a combination of education about the condition and contributing factors, hands-on work, exercises and practical strategies to address a client’s concerns or current limitations. Ellen finds it incredibly rewarding to work with clients and their support teams to maximise their function, reach their goals and improve their quality of life.
Outside of physiotherapy
When she is not in clinic or on home visits, you’ll find Ellen on a hike, at a Pilates class, out for lunch (seeking recommendations, please!) or at home with her dog, Hamish.
