Simon Michalski
B. App Sc. (Physio)
Simon joined the Advanced Neuro Rehab team in 2020 and works with people presenting with a variety of conditions, including balance and dizziness disorders, concussion, and neurological and movement disorders.
Simon graduated from the University of South Australia in 2012 and has since worked across Adelaide, Victoria and London. His experience across a range of clinical teams and healthcare settings has provided him with exposure to different approaches to physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Simon draws on this diverse experience to develop individualised treatment programs and work towards the best possible outcomes for his patients at Advanced Neuro Rehab.
While living and working in London, Simon had the opportunity to research and explore emerging management techniques in neurological and vestibular physiotherapy and rehabilitation. His strong focus on research has developed a critical approach to integrating novel techniques alongside established, evidence-based approaches to treatment.
Simon combines his foundation in research and evidence-based practice with the individual goals and aspirations of each person he works with. He believes that rehabilitation is most effective when it is collaborative, with patients actively involved in understanding their condition, setting goals and determining the direction of their rehabilitation.

Simon enjoys working with people with complex presentations and developing tailored rehabilitation programs that combine current evidence with practical strategies relevant to each person’s goals and everyday life.
He remains committed to ongoing professional development and continually developing his clinical knowledge and skills, particularly in neurological and vestibular rehabilitation.
Treatment approach
Simon takes a collaborative and evidence-based approach to physiotherapy, recognising that each person’s presentation, goals and circumstances are unique. He believes that actively involving patients in the rehabilitation process is an important part of achieving meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
His treatment approach combines current research and evidence with clinical experience, drawing on a broad range of management strategies to develop rehabilitation programs tailored to each individual. Simon takes the time to understand what is important to each person and works collaboratively with them to establish practical goals and strategies for rehabilitation.
His experience across different healthcare settings and clinical teams has given Simon an appreciation of the value of considering different perspectives and approaches when managing complex presentations. He aims to provide rehabilitation that is informed by the best available evidence while remaining focused on the individual needs and aspirations of each patient.
Professional experience
Simon currently works with the Advanced Neuro Rehab team on Fridays, alongside his role in the public health setting at Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital.
Outside of physiotherapy
Simon is a father of two school age boys, and spends his free time playing soccer, cycling and hiking.
